Sennheiser HDB 630

After spending some time with the Sennheiser HDB 630, I’ve decided I’m probably going to return them and stick with the Momentum 4 instead.

Don’t get me wrong — the HDB 630 sound very good. One thing I really like is the EQ customization in the Sennheiser app. You can really fine-tune the sound and bring out different parts of the music depending on what you’re listening to.

But when I’m spending around $500 on headphones, I expect more than just good sound and a strong EQ. I also expect them to feel premium, and that’s where these fell a little short for me.

The overall build honestly reminds me a lot of the Momentum 4, just with wider ear cups. The ear cups are pretty large and give a bit of an earmuff look when wearing them. They’re comfortable, but they don’t really give that high-end feel I’d expect in this price range.

What surprised me the most is that the Momentum 4, which you can often find for around $200 or even less, sometimes actually look more premium to me. That’s probably because of the different color options and the design of the headband.

The HDB 630 definitely sound good, but I don’t personally think the sound quality is double-the-price good compared to the Momentum 4.

Because of that, it just makes more sense for me to return them and go back to the Momentum 4. I might also consider trying something like the Bowers & Wilkins Px8 or Focal Bathys if I can catch them on sale.

I also recorded a quick unboxing video showing the headphones from different angles so people can get a closer look at the build and design. If you’re curious what they look like up close, feel free to check it out and let me know what you think.
