Bowers & Wilkins PX8 Review – Why I Returned Them (Even Though They’re Amazing)

The Bowers & Wilkins PX8 are often called some of the most luxurious wireless ANC headphones you can buy. They’re beautifully made, sound incredible, and have a design that screams high-end. Honestly, I was impressed from the moment I opened the box.

But here’s the twist: after living with them for a while, I decided to return them. Not because they weren’t comfortable, not because they sounded bad — in fact, they checked almost every box. The reason? They were just too luxurious for me to justify keeping.

What I Loved About the PX8

• Comfort: These headphones are genuinely comfortable. Even with extended listening sessions, the fit never felt too tight or fatiguing. The earpads and headband cushioning are plush and supportive.
• Sound Quality: The PX8 sounds phenomenal. The detail, richness, and balance of the audio were some of the best I’ve heard in wireless headphones. Vocals sounded lifelike, instruments were clear, and the overall presentation made music feel special.

Why I Returned Them

In the end, I didn’t return the PX8 because of the price tag or the quality — they lived up to both. The real issue was practicality.

I use over-ear headphones heavily during workouts, yard work, and other activities that involve sweating or movement. The PX8 are luxury headphones made with fine leather and premium materials, and I just couldn’t see myself putting them through that kind of use. They’re too refined to risk damaging with sweat or outdoor wear.

Another limitation was the lack of a proper EQ. I would’ve loved at least a simple 3–5 band equalizer to fine-tune the sound to my liking. The stock tuning is excellent, but a bit of flexibility would’ve made them more versatile.

Finally, these would make perfect travel headphones for someone who flies often — but I don’t. Since ANC isn’t a huge part of my lifestyle and luxury isn’t practical for my daily use, I couldn’t justify keeping them as my main pair.

The PX8 are amazing, but for me, they just don’t fit the way I use over-ear headphones.

The Bowers & Wilkins PX8 are some of the most comfortable, best-sounding, and most beautifully designed headphones I’ve ever tried. They weren’t lacking in performance, and they lived up to the hype in almost every category.

I returned them not because they weren’t good enough, but because they were too good — too luxurious — for me to feel comfortable keeping.

If you want a headphone that blends audiophile-level sound with true luxury styling, the PX8 may be perfect for you.
